Goats Cheese & Red Onion Vol-au-Vent | Recipe

You’re going to love this simple yet impressive light dish. It’s so easy anyone can put this together and it tastes amazing! It’s great for an afternoon snack or as an appetiser to impress your friends and family with at your next function, especially if you’re hosting a little get-together or dinner party.

We’re just over a week into the New Year and after a winter of indulgence over the festive season, for some of us that means a fresh start and cleaning up our diets. This is a recipe that I’m sure you’ll love and add to your list of favourite savoury treats.

PREP TIME 20 Minutes and under | TOTAL TIME 5 Minutes | Makes 10

10 Jus Rol Vol-au-Vent Cases Thawed

200G Goats Cheese Cubed

1 Red onion, medium sliced

Herb of your choice to garnish (I used Thyme)

A little milk or beaten egg for brushing (Optional)

Oven Tray

Parchment Paper

Pastry Brush

My Mum used to bake Vol-auvents when I was younger as a treat on special occasions. She would fill them up with a prawn and red pepper mixture. (Note to self -ask Mum for the recipe) Though it’s not the exact same, this recipe reminds me of a little bit of my childhood. This recipe is equally as good so let’s get baking!

  1. Place Frozen Vol au vent onto a baking tray lined with Baking Paper ( 2.5cm apart)
  2. Brush with beaten egg or milk (optional)
  3. Place sliced red onions on the tray and place the tray in the top half of the oven for 13-15 mins, turning halfway through cooking.
  4. Bake until golden brown.
  5. Remove from the oven.
  6. Push down the centre of each case slightly and fill with cubed goats cheese and roasted red onions. Garnish with a herb of your choice; I chose Thyme.

That’s it! So simple and super delicious!
